How to use this practice: Each text is something you could actually receive — an email, a notice, a memo, a post. Read it once at normal speed, then answer the three questions under it. Watch the options that reuse a word from the text: matching words are the most common trap in this part.

Southbank United - winter training schedule

December 2 to February 21, all sessions at Lockyer Fields unless noted

Bring both boots. The grass pitch closes after heavy rain and we move to the artificial pitch with no notice.

  • Monday 6:30 to 8:00 PM - fitness, senior squad only
  • Wednesday 6:00 to 7:30 PM - full squad, grass pitch
  • Wednesday 7:30 to 8:15 PM - optional shooting practice, stay on if you want it
  • Saturday 9:00 to 10:30 AM - full squad, followed by the match schedule when the season restarts on January 18

Players who cannot make Wednesday should come Monday instead, even if they are not in the senior squad. Tell the coach by Tuesday so he can plan numbers.

There is no training in the week of December 23. The clubhouse is closed that week as well, so nothing can be left there.

Kit washing rotates by surname; the list is on the clubhouse door. If your week falls in the December break, you swap with the following week rather than skipping it.

Q1 · Detail
What should a player who cannot attend Wednesday training do?
  1. A. Come on Monday and tell the coach by Tuesday
  2. B. Stay for the optional shooting practice another week
  3. C. Ask to be moved into the senior squad first
  4. D. Swap their kit washing week with the following week
Answer
Correct: A
Q2 · Purpose
Why does the schedule tell players to bring both pairs of boots?
  1. A. Because Monday sessions are held on a different field
  2. B. Because the pitch may change at short notice after rain
  3. C. Because boots are washed on a rotating schedule
  4. D. Because matches restart on January 18
Answer

Text 2 — Notice

Notice: New recycling rules from April 1

Kestrel Ward waste collection

From April 1, glass will no longer be collected from the blue bin at the kerb. Everything else in the blue bin stays the same: paper, cardboard, tins, and clean plastic containers.

Glass now goes to the bottle banks at the supermarket car park, the leisure center, and the corner of Fell Road. These are open at all hours and take bottles and jars of any color. Lids can stay on.

The change is not about cost. Broken glass has been cutting sorting staff and damaging equipment at the plant, and one machine has been out of service twice this year.

Blue bins containing glass after April 1 will be left uncollected with a sticker explaining why. Remove the glass and the bin will be taken on the next scheduled day, not earlier.

Residents who cannot carry glass to a bottle bank may register for the assisted collection service, which already helps with heavy bins. Apply by phone or at the ward office; a decision takes about two weeks, so apply before mid-March if you want it in place from the start.

Q4 · Purpose
Why does the notice explain what has been happening at the sorting plant?
  1. A. To warn residents that collections may stop altogether
  2. B. To ask residents to wash glass before recycling it
  3. C. To give the reason for the change and show it is not about saving money
  4. D. To explain why the bottle banks are open at all hours
Answer
Correct: C
Q5 · Inference
A resident puts a glass jar in the blue bin on April 5. What can be concluded?
  1. A. The bin will be emptied but the jar will be left behind.
  2. B. The bin will be collected a day late with a warning sticker.
  3. C. The resident will be registered for assisted collection.
  4. D. The bin will stay full until the next scheduled collection day.
Answer
Correct: D
Q6 · Expected Action
What should a resident who cannot carry glass do, and when?
  1. A. Apply for assisted collection before mid-March
  2. B. Leave the glass beside the blue bin on collection day
  3. C. Use the bottle bank at the leisure center after April 1
  4. D. Call the sorting plant within two weeks of April 1
Answer
Correct: A

Roommates - Flat 3C

Jonah (7:02 PM): The landlord is sending someone Thursday morning to look at the radiator in the front room. Between 8 and 12, they would not narrow it down.

Mei (7:10 PM): I have a class until 11. Can you be there?

Jonah (7:12 PM): I leave at 8:30. So there is a gap from 8:30 to 11 with nobody in.

Mei (7:20 PM): Could we leave a key with Dev downstairs? He works from home on Thursdays.

Jonah (7:24 PM): The landlord said the tenant has to be present for the first visit, so a neighbor with a key would not count. After the first visit they can come with their own key if we sign the form.

Mei (7:31 PM): Then I will move my class to the recording and be home all morning. Can you sign the form tonight so we never have to do this again?

Jonah (7:33 PM): It is on the table. I will leave it signed by your door.

Q7 · Detail
Why can the neighbor not hold the key on Thursday?
  1. A. He does not work from home on Thursdays.
  2. B. A tenant must be present for the first visit.
  3. C. The landlord has not given the flat a second key.
  4. D. The form has not been signed yet.
Answer
Correct: B
Q8 · Inference
What can be inferred about Mei's Thursday class?
  1. A. It has been canceled by her department.
  2. B. She will attend it and arrive home just after 11.
  3. C. She will watch it later instead of attending live.
  4. D. It finishes early enough for her to be home by 8:30.
Answer
Correct: C
Q9 · Purpose
Why does Mei ask Jonah to sign the form tonight?
  1. A. So that the landlord will narrow the visit to a shorter window
  2. B. So that Dev can let the worker in on Thursday morning
  3. C. So that the radiator can be repaired before her class starts
  4. D. So that she does not have to move another class in the future
Answer

Subject: Baggage and check-in for flight AV220, June 3

From: Avio Air

To: Passenger Leila Haddad

Your booking includes one cabin bag up to 8 kg and one checked bag up to 23 kg. A second checked bag costs 45 euros online and 70 euros at the airport, so add it now if you think you will need it.

Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure and closes 2 hours before. Passengers who check in online may go straight to the bag drop desk, which closes 45 minutes before departure. Airport check-in is available but costs 15 euros.

Your seat is 14C, assigned automatically. You may change it free of charge until online check-in opens; after that a change costs 12 euros.

Liquids in your cabin bag must be in containers of 100 ml or less. Powders over 350 g are also checked separately at this airport, which is not the case at every airport we fly from.

One note about the return leg: it departs from Terminal 2, not Terminal 1. Shuttle buses run every ten minutes and take about twelve minutes.

What is the cheapest way to add a second checked bag?
  1. A. Add it at the bag drop desk on the day

Answer
Correct: B
