Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Test Practice Lab is an educational website operated by Noa Lee from Portland, United States. We provide TOEFL and Duolingo practice content, study materials, articles, and related learning resources.
Test Practice Lab is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ETS, the maker of the TOEFL iBT, or by Duolingo, the maker of the Duolingo English Test. TOEFL and TOEFL iBT are registered trademarks of ETS, and Duolingo and Duolingo English Test are trademarks of Duolingo, Inc. We use the exam names and logos only to identify which exam our practice material is for. We do not share your information with ETS or Duolingo.
We use information to operate the site, improve learning materials, provide future learning tools, and support advertising that helps keep free practice content available.
2. Information We Collect
We may currently collect:
- Information you choose to send, such as messages through contact forms or email.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring pages, and approximate location.
- Cookie and advertising identifiers used by advertising, analytics, or embedded content providers.
- Usage information about how visitors interact with pages, practice content, links, and site features.
- Voice recordings of your spoken answers on speaking practice pages, and only if you turn recording on yourself. See section 7.
If we add accounts, paid question banks, subscriptions, AI feedback, saved progress, or interactive practice tools, we may also collect account details, practice answers, score history, saved progress, subscription status, and product usage data.
3. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website.
- Provide TOEFL and Duolingo practice questions, explanations, score guidance, and learning resources.
- Respond to messages and support requests.
- Understand which pages and practice materials are useful.
- Review spoken practice answers, where you turned recording on, to improve our speaking questions, model answers, and explanations.
- Show, measure, and manage advertising.
- Prevent spam, abuse, fraud, security issues, or technical problems.
- Develop and operate future accounts, paid question banks, subscriptions, or SaaS learning tools.
5. Google Services and Analytics
We may use Google services such as Google AdSense, Google Analytics, and embedded YouTube videos.
When these services are active, your browser may send information to Google — such as the page URL, IP address, browser and device information, cookies, and interactions with ads or embedded content.
We may use analytics tools to understand traffic patterns, improve page quality, detect errors, and decide which learning resources to create next.
6. Practice Data and Future Learning Tools
Today, much of our practice content is available as articles, pages, videos, or downloadable-style study resources. In the future, we may offer interactive practice tools, user accounts, saved answers, score tracking, AI-assisted feedback, paid question banks, or subscription products.
If these features are offered, we may process practice answers, attempt history, estimated scores, saved progress, feedback requests, and learning activity to provide the requested educational features.
If AI-assisted feedback or scoring is offered, submitted answers may be processed to generate educational feedback, explanations, or study recommendations.
Accounts and My page. You can sign in with Google. When you do, we store your email address, your name and profile picture as provided by Google, and the attempts you make while signed in: which set, when, your scores, your written answers, and the recordings from full practice sets and saved TOEFL tests. These appear on your My page, which only you can open. To score writing and speaking answers, the text or audio of that answer is sent to Google’s Gemini API and processed under Google’s API terms. You can delete all of this yourself from My page under Account, Your data. That removes your attempts, answers, scores and recordings; a purchase record is kept for tax and refund purposes.
7. Voice Recordings on Speaking Practice
On speaking practice pages you can choose to record your spoken answer, so you can play it back and compare it with the model answer.
Recording is off by default. Nothing is recorded and nothing reaches us unless you turn the recording option on yourself and allow your browser to use your microphone. If you leave it off, the practice timer works the same way and no audio is captured. We ask for this once: if you turn it on, we remember that choice in your browser instead of asking again, and you can switch recording off at any time on the practice page.
When recording is on, we store the audio of your answer together with the practice set it belongs to, the question number, how long the recording is, and a random identifier saved in your browser. We use these recordings to see how learners actually answer, and to improve our speaking questions, model answers, and explanations.
We do not ask for your name, email address, or an account in order to record, and we do not attach any of those to a recording. The random browser identifier is not linked to your identity, and we do not try to identify who is speaking.
Recordings are stored in a private, non-public location with our hosting and storage provider. They are not published on the site, not shown to other visitors, and not sold. They are not used to train third-party AI models.
Separately, when you are signed in and take a full practice set or save a full TOEFL test, the recordings of your answers are stored in the same private location, linked to your account so you can replay them on My page. You can delete them from My page at any time.
For the browser-only recordings described above, you can ask us to delete your recordings at any time. Email testpracticelab@gmail.com and we will remove them. Tell us roughly when you practised and which practice set it was, so we can find them.
8. Payments and Subscriptions
Paid products are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment. We receive your email address, the order number, the amount and the date, and we keep them to give you access and to handle refunds. Sales terms and the refund policy are on the Terms of Sale page.
If we offer other paid products, subscriptions, digital downloads, or question banks, payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe or another payment processor.
We do not intend to store full payment card numbers on our own servers. Payment providers may collect and process payment details according to their own privacy policies.
10. Children and Student Privacy
Test Practice Lab is designed for test preparation and may be used by students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
This applies to voice recordings as well. Recording on speaking practice pages is off unless it is switched on deliberately, and we ask that a parent or guardian make that choice for a child under 13.
If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information, they may contact us at testpracticelab@gmail.com to request review or deletion.
11. Your Choices
You may:
- Disable or delete cookies through your browser settings.
- Opt out of personalized Google ads through Google Ads Settings.
- Use available analytics opt-out tools if applicable.
- Leave voice recording off on speaking practice pages, which is how it already is unless you turn it on, and switch it back off at any time.
- Ask us by email to delete any voice recordings you made.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you provided.
- Unsubscribe from future email communications if newsletters or email updates are offered.
12. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no website, internet transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
13. International Visitors
If you access Test Practice Lab from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our website, advertising setup, analytics tools, or paid learning products change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
