Take an Interview
Listen to each question and answer out loud. You have 45 seconds for each answer, and there is no preparation time. Try it first, then open the sample answer.
An interviewer asks you four questions about your hometown. They start with you and get a little wider each time. Use the beginner formula for every answer: Answer, Reason, Example, Wrap-up.
Can you tell me about your hometown?
Start withMy hometown is…
Show Answer
My hometown is Busan. It is a big city in the south of Korea. Busan is famous for its beaches. In summer, many people go to Haeundae Beach to swim. The city also has great seafood. I love eating fresh fish at the market there. People in Busan are friendly and talk a lot. I live in Seoul now, but I miss my hometown. I visit Busan two or three times a year.
Why it works: A "tell me about" question has no single answer, so name the place first and say where it is. Then give three things it is known for (beaches, seafood, people), each with one detail. The ending adds a feeling (I miss it) and a fact (two or three visits a year).
What is your favorite place in your hometown? Tell me about a time you went there.
Start withMy favorite place in my hometown is…
Show Answer
My favorite place in Busan is Haeundae Beach. Last summer, I went there with my family. We got there early in the morning, so it was quiet. First, we walked along the sand and put our feet in the water. Then we ate fresh fish at a small restaurant near the beach. In the evening, the beach was full of lights and music. It was a perfect day, and I want to go back soon.
Why it works: Name the place in the first sentence, then tell one visit in time order: early in the morning, First, Then, In the evening. The last sentence says how you felt, which turns a list of actions into a memory.
Would you rather live in a big city or a small town? Why?
Start withI would rather live in…
Show Answer
I would rather live in a big city. First, there are more jobs in a big city. Second, it is easy to get around. There are buses and subways everywhere. For example, in Seoul I can go anywhere in thirty minutes without a car. Of course, small towns are quiet and clean, and I like that too. But for my life right now, a big city is the better choice.
Why it works: Answer a "would you rather" question with "I would rather." Two reasons with First and Second, then the subway as a real example. Saying one good thing about small towns before the wrap-up makes the answer sound fair.
Do you think young people should stay in their hometown or move to a new city? Why?
Start withI think young people should…
Show Answer
I think young people should try living in a new city, at least for a few years. In a new place, you meet new people and learn to take care of yourself. For example, my friend moved from a small town to Seoul for college. At first, she was lonely, but now she is much more confident. Later, she can still go back home if she wants. So I think moving is a good experience.
Why it works: The first sentence gives a clear opinion and softens it with "at least for a few years." One reason, one friend as the example, then a line that answers the other side (she can still go back home). "So I think" repeats the opinion.
Every answer graded, for less than one tutoring lesson.

I think it is important because hobbies makesmake people more creative inat work, and they come back more freshfresher.
That was one answer. Your full test has 11. Every one gets this.
