A honeybee that finds flowers returns to the hive and performs a waggle dan. The bee walks in a straight line while shaking its bo, then circles back and repeats the pattern. The len of the straight run tells the other bees the dist to the flowers, and its angle tells them the direc relative to the sun. Bees that watch the dance can then fly stra to the food without searching the whole mea. Karl von Frisch first deco this code in the 1940s, and later experiments confi that bees really do follow the inform the dance gives.
