Many animals around the world are endangered. This means their numbers are getting smaller and they might disappear forever. One main reason is habitat loss. When humans cut down forests or build cities, animals lose the places where they live and find food.

Another reason is illegal hunting. Some people hunt animals for their fur, horns, or other body parts. This is against the law in many countries, but it still happens. Animals like elephants and rhinos are at great risk because of this.

There are many ways to help. Governments can create protected areas where animals can live safely. People can support animal conservation organizations. We can also choose to buy products that do not harm wildlife. Every small action helps when it comes to protecting endangered species.

According to the reading, animals are endangered for two main reasons. First, they lose their habitats when humans cut down forests or build new cities. Second, some animals are hunted illegally for their body parts.

There are several things people can do to help. Governments should create protected areas where animals can live safely. People can also support conservation organizations that work to save animals. Another way is to avoid buying products that are made from endangered animals. Education is also important — when people understand why animals are valuable, they are more likely to protect them. I believe that if everyone takes small steps, we can make a real difference for endangered species.
Part 2
Now consider this: some people think zoos help protect endangered animals, while others think zoos are not good for animals. What is your opinion about zoos? (3 minutes)
Show Model Answer
I believe zoos can be both good and bad for animals. On one hand, zoos help protect endangered species by keeping them safe from hunters. Many zoos also have breeding programs that help increase the number of endangered animals. On the other hand, living in a zoo is not the same as living in the wild. Animals in zoos have less space and may feel stressed. I think zoos are helpful when they focus on conservation, but they must treat animals well and provide them with environments that are as natural as possible.
